Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO News), Jakarta — PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero) is strengthening efforts to improve plantation governance by partnering with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (ORI). The collaboration is aimed at preventing maladministration while ensuring that plantation-sector management is carried out transparently, accountably, and in accordance with applicable regulations.

The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Agrinas Palma Nusantara and the Ombudsman RI in Jakarta on Tuesday (September 22, 2026). The meeting focused on strengthening institutional coordination and governance in the food sector, including plantation management, which has a direct connection to the interests of local communities.

According to information received by Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO NEWS), the coordination represents an important step toward strengthening national plantation governance, with a focus not only on productivity but also on ensuring that administrative processes, public services, and community relations are conducted properly and within the applicable framework.

PREVENTING MALADMINISTRATION FROM THE OUTSET

Ombudsman RI Member Fikri Yasin emphasized the importance of ensuring that public services in the food sector are delivered in accordance with applicable regulations. The Ombudsman RI expressed its readiness to provide coordination and assistance aimed at preventing maladministration while strengthening corporate governance.

Head of the Ombudsman RI Main Assistance Division Yustus Maturbongs explained that the supervision would not take a repressive approach. Instead, the Ombudsman is promoting joint oversight as part of efforts to improve governance in the food sector.

According to Yustus, the food sector involves a broad ecosystem and directly affects communities. Strengthening governance is therefore important to ensure that policies and their implementation remain in accordance with applicable regulations, One of the strategic measures discussed was data exchange as part of coordination between the two institutions.

PROMOTING GCG AND GOOD AGRICULTURAL PRACTICES

President Director of PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara (Persero), Mohammad Abdul Ghani, welcomed the coordination with the Ombudsman RI. Ghani said Agrinas Palma applies a persuasive and collaborative approach in carrying out its plantation-management mandate. Community involvement is pursued through partnership schemes, cooperatives, and plasma development to improve productivity while creating broader economic benefits.

According to Ghani, assistance from the Ombudsman RI represents an important element in supporting transparent, accountable, and compliant governance. Agrinas Palma is also committed to consistently implementing the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) in its plantation operations.

GOVERNANCE BECOMES A KEY PRIORITY

The collaboration between Agrinas Palma and the Ombudsman RI is particularly relevant because plantation management involves more than production and business operations. It also covers administration, partnerships, communities, cooperatives, plasma schemes, and various public interests.

Through early coordination and assistance, potential governance issues are expected to be identified and addressed before developing into maladministration.

According to information received by Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO NEWS), this approach could also help strengthen trust among companies, the government, communities, and stakeholders across the plantation industry.

The meeting between Agrinas Palma and the Ombudsman RI forms part of efforts to strengthen institutional coordination in support of professional, transparent, productive, and sustainable plantation management in Indonesia.

The meeting was also attended by Agrinas Palma Director of Institutional Relations Cucu Somantri, Director of Partnerships and Plasma Seger Budiarjo, Director of Human Resources and General Affairs Erry Herman, along with representatives from the Ombudsman RI and Agrinas Palma.
