Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO News) — As Indonesia’s plantation industry continues to focus on productivity, cost efficiency and sustainable soil management, dolomite fertilizer remains an important agricultural input. One of the companies operating in this segment is PT Bintang Timur Pasifik (BTP), a dolomite fertilizer producer based in Gresik, East Java.
BTP’s current business strength lies not only in its product portfolio, but also in its processing capacity, raw-material quality, market reach and ability to serve large-scale plantation requirements.
The company states that its Gresik production facility has a dolomite processing capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes per year. This figure represents installed processing capacity, rather than actual production. BTP has not publicly disclosed its actual production volume for 2025 or 2026.
DL 100®: A Core Product for Agriculture and Plantations
BTP’s main product is DL 100®, a powdered dolomite fertilizer containing calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg). According to the company, dolomite can be applied to a wide range of agricultural and plantation crops. Magnesium is an essential element in chlorophyll formation, while dolomite is also widely used as a soil conditioner to help manage soil acidity.
BTP states that its Gresik dolomite deposit contains approximately 18–22% MgO and 29–32% CaO. These characteristics form part of the company’s product proposition for agricultural and plantation customers. With processing capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes per year, BTP has the production capability to serve substantial and recurring demand, particularly from plantation businesses requiring consistent supplies of soil nutrients.
Reaching Plantation Markets Across Indonesia
BTP states that it has worked with companies and business customers across different parts of Indonesia, with agriculture and plantations forming an important part of its target market. For the palm oil industry, dolomite plays an important role in plantation soil management because its application can support soil condition improvement while supplying calcium and magnesium.
BTP also states that it has partnered with various palm oil companies to meet their fertilizer requirements. However, the company does not publicly disclose the names of its palm oil customers, and therefore specific plantation groups should not be identified as BTP customers without direct confirmation from the company.
The company’s market reach is not limited to a single region. BTP indicates that its products have been distributed to customers across various parts of Indonesia, supporting its position as a supplier serving a geographically diverse market.
Beyond Palm Oil, BTP’s dolomite products are not limited to agricultural and plantation applications, The company also identifies glass, ceramics, animal feed and aquaculture among the industries that can utilize its dolomite products. This broader range of applications gives BTP opportunities to diversify its market exposure beyond plantation fertilizer.
Such diversification is strategically relevant for a mineral based producer because demand can come from several industrial segments with different purchasing cycles and requirements.
Large Capacity, with Further Room for Market Expansion
With stated processing capacity of up to 150,000 tonnes per year, an important area of BTP’s future development is the optimization of its production utilization and continued expansion of its market network.
On its product page, BTP highlights approximately 250 completed projects and 100 tender participations. The company also refers to having assisted more than 500 clients during the period represented by its published information. Because these figures are not presented with a uniform reporting period, they are better viewed as indicators of project and market experience rather than as the company’s current active customer count.
For Indonesia’s palm oil industry, where plantation productivity is closely linked to proper soil and nutrient management, the presence of domestic dolomite producers with significant processing capacity forms an important part of the plantation input supply chain.
From its production base in Gresik, BTP is positioning itself not simply as a dolomite supplier, but as a company combining processing capacity, mineral quality and a broad distribution reach to serve Indonesia’s agricultural and plantation markets.
If its stated 150,000 tonne annual capacity can be increasingly optimized through wider market penetration and long term relationships with plantation customers, BTP has room to further strengthen its role in Indonesia’s soil nutrition and dolomite fertilizer supply chain.
