Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO News) – PT United Tractors Tbk (UT), a subsidiary of PT Astra International Tbk, demonstrates its commitment to supporting Astra’s Net Zero Emissions (NZE) Scope 1 & 2 target by 2050, in line with Astra’s Net Zero Pathway roadmap. As part of its long term strategy, UT actively manages greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption efficiency to support the transition toward a low emission energy system. This initiative represents Astra Group’s strategic contribution as the Pride of the Nation in helping achieve the Indonesian government’s NZE 2060 target.
UT conducts climate scenario analysis, strategic planning, and environmental risk management to support this goal using a systematic and indicator based approach. This strategy integrates into operational policies and is supported by technological innovations and evolving green initiatives.
Energy utilization forms the foundation for sustaining UT’s business operations. Using electricity and fuel supplies, UT continuously strives to optimize and ensure energy efficiency to maintain reliable and environmentally responsible operations. Electricity consumption at UT covers lighting, air conditioning, building operations, process equipment, and office use, with power sourced from the grid and generators at remote locations not connected to the grid. Meanwhile, fuel remains
a primary energy source to support mining and mining contracting activities, including the operation of heavy equipment and the mobilization of field tools.
As part of its commitment to achieving Astra’s NZE Scope 1 & 2 target by 2050 and realizing UT’s 2030 Sustainability Aspirations, which aim for a 30% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030, UT records a GHG emission reduction of 11.15% in 2024 compared to the 2019 baseline. This achievement reflects UT’s measurable and well planned environmental management efforts. Additionally, UT increases its use of renewable energy to 31.94%, reinforcing its commitment to the clean energy transition.

Fuel Switching to Biodiesel B35
UT adopts B35 biodiesel, which is more environmentally friendly than fossil fuels. This step aligns with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ (MEMR) policy to promote renewable energy use in the industrial sector.
Utilization of Renewable Energy Certificates (REC)
Since 2022, UT partners with PT PLN to utilize clean energy. In 2024, UT and its subsidiaries use 85,487 REC units, equivalent to 307,754.57 GJ. Through this initiative, UT successfully reduces emissions by 74,374.02 tCO₂eq.
