Trade data confirms that Indonesian palm oil continues to be exported to Israel. However, the involvement of specific companies and the routes used require further verification.

Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO News), Jakarta — Indonesia’s palm oil trade with Israel has come under renewed scrutiny after trade data showed that shipments of palm oil and its derivatives to the country have continued. Against this backdrop, Singapore’s role as an international trading hub has attracted attention, raising questions that need to be examined through transaction records and shipping documentation.

Data from Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture, sourced from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and reported by Republika in October 2026, showed that exports of palm oil and its derivatives to Israel reached approximately 29,605 tonnes, valued at US$28.06 million, in 2023. In 2024, exports totalled approximately 22,357 tonnes, worth US$22.46 million. From January to August 2026, exports were recorded at approximately 10,406 tonnes, valued at US$12.34 million.

These figures indicate that palm oil trade with Israel has continued. However, aggregate export data alone does not identify the companies responsible for individual transactions, the ultimate buyers, or whether shipments were made directly or through intermediaries in other countries.

SINGAPORE AND THE PALM OIL TRADE NETWORK

Singapore is one of the world’s international commodity trading hubs. In cross-border trade, the seller, intermediary trading company, country of origin and final destination may represent different stages of a transaction.

The involvement of Singapore in a trading chain does not automatically establish that all commodities traded through companies based there originated in Indonesia. Likewise, the use of intermediaries is not, in itself, evidence of wrongdoing.

International trade data compiled by the World Integrated Trade Solution (WITS), drawing on United Nations trade statistics, recorded approximately US$21.63 million in Indonesian exports of palm oil and its fractions to Israel in 2024 under HS code 151190. For the same product category, Singapore also recorded exports to Israel worth approximately US$337,880.

These figures must be interpreted carefully. Singapore’s recorded exports to Israel do not establish that all, or any specific portion, of those products originated in Indonesia. Establishing the origin and route of the goods requires further examination of shipping documents, customs records, exporter and importer identities, and the underlying transactions.

EXPORT UNDER-INVOICING ALLEGATIONS ARE A SEPARATE ISSUE

Scrutiny of Indonesia’s palm oil trade has also emerged in connection with government investigations into alleged export under-invoicing and transfer pricing practices involving commodity exports.

Reuters reported on May 26, 2026, that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa named Wilmar International and Musim Mas Group among companies included in an investigation concerning alleged export under-invoicing. The alleged practice involves declaring export values below the amounts that should properly be reported.

In a company statement dated May 28, 2026, Wilmar said it had not received official notification of the investigation reported by the media and stated that it would cooperate with the authorities to understand the matter raised.

It is important to distinguish allegations concerning export valuations from claims that particular companies shipped palm oil to Israel through Singapore. The available reports do not establish that the export valuation investigation was connected to shipments destined for Israel.

Furthermore, the mention of a company in reporting about an investigation should not be treated as proof that the company has committed a violation.

TRANSACTION EVIDENCE IS ESSENTIAL

Determining how Indonesian palm oil reaches Israel requires more detailed information than aggregate export figures alone. Relevant evidence includes the identities of exporters, importers and intermediaries; product types and origins; final destinations; and verifiable customs and shipping documents.

Such an investigation is also necessary to distinguish direct exports from Indonesia from transactions involving international traders based in third countries. These arrangements may be recorded differently in international trade statistics and cannot be conclusively established merely because a particular country appears in the supply chain.

For Indonesia’s palm oil industry, trade transparency is important because it affects the accuracy of export statistics, state revenue and the credibility of industry participants in international markets.

CONCLUSION

Available data confirms that Indonesian palm oil exports to Israel have been recorded. Singapore also has documented trade in palm oil products with Israel. However, these two facts are insufficient to conclude that specific companies exported Indonesian palm oil to Israel through Singapore.

Such claims must be substantiated through verifiable transaction records and relevant trade documentation. This approach allows reporting on Indonesia’s palm oil trade to remain critical, balanced and evidence-based, without prejudging the outcome of an investigation or attributing wrongdoing to any particular company without sufficient proof.
