After operating for almost 35 years, on 9 August 2023 this company found the peak of its business glory by becoming a public company under the name PT. Mutuagung Lestari Tbk. To find out more about this company, the IPO NEWS Team conducted an interview with Mr. Arifin Lambaga, the President Director. Here are the excerpts:
Indonesian Palm Oil News – Initially MUTU operated in the wood-based product sector, could you tell me what sectors does MUTU work presently?
PT Mutuagung Lestari Tbk or known as MUTU International as a TIC (Testing Inspection Certification) services company currently provides TIC services in the Plantation, Forestry, Fisheries, Manufacturing, Logistics, Public Sector, Public Services, Construction, Food & Beverage and Mining sectors (minerals and coal). MUTU International currently dominates Sustainability Certification Services in the palm oil and derivatives sector (ISPO, RSPO, ISCC).
MUTU International is also listed as the first Greenhouse Gas Validation and Verification Institution (LVV) in Indonesia to be accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) since 2016. MUTU International has validated and verified greenhouse gas emissions through voluntary market schemes (such as the ISO program 14064-2, Joint Credit Mechanisms) and in the air transportation sector (CORSIA scheme – Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation). MUTU International will also play an active role as LVV in the carbon trading mechanism on the Indonesian carbon exchange whose regulations have been issued by the OJK.
In the last decades the Certification business has experienced rapid growth, what is the cause it?
The growth of certification follows developments in national and international regulations. A number of regulations require business actors to obtain certification as a condition for entering national and international markets
Apart from that, certification schemes will continue to develop, and we always follow developments in certification schemes, especially those based on Natural Resources and related to the 3 sectors that are our focus, namely Green Economy, Sharia Economy and Digital Economy.

Please tell us about the Human Resources (HR) of MUTU?
Human Resources (HR) at PT Mutuagung Lestari Tbk (MUTU) based on the type of MUTU service business, namely Testing, Inspection and Certification, are divided into groups of Professional HR and Management/supporting HR which consist of:
- Testing / Testing Services: Environmental Laboratory Analyst, Microbiology Laboratory Analyst, General & Food Laboratory Analyst, Sample Taking Officer (PPC) and Calibrator.
- Inspection / Inspection Services: Surveyor, Inspector
- Certification / Certification Services: Auditor
- Apart from professional HR based on letters a, b, c, other MUTU HR are managers/management (Supervisor, Vice President, Executive Vice President, Deputy Director) and supporting (finance & Accounting, HRM, IT, General & Administration, Quality Assurance, Auditor Center, marketing /marketing) to support business processes in operational administration.
