Indonesia is the world’s largest CPO producer with production reaching 49.71 million tons in 2021, an increase from 48.29 million tons the previous year. With such CPO production, it is ironic that lately Indonesia has been experiencing turmoil in cooking oil of which the raw material is abundant in Indonesia.

According to the observations of IPO News that this turmoil should not have occurred since the supply of cooking oil so far has been quite safe, even today Indonesia is still supplying foreign demand with an ever-increasing number of export.

In 2021 Indonesia’s cooking oil production amounted to 18.94 million tons and 11.09 million tons were exported with a value of US$ 10.77 billion. This value increased if compared to that in the previous year with total production of 16.08 million tons and 10.44 million tons exported with a value of US$ 7.08 billion.

Based on IPO News that most of Indonesia’s cooking oil production is exported to various countries. In recent years, the export of Indonesian palm cooking oil has kept on declining. If in 2017 the export was 12,747 thousand tons with a value of US$ 8,842 million, it continued to decrease to only 10,445 thousand tons with a value of US$ 7,084 million in 2020. Meanwhile in 2021 it seemed to increase slightly since during the period from January to June the volume was recorded to reach 5,547 thousand. This means that in entire 2021 it is estimated that the export reached 11,094 thousand tons.
