Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO News) – ASIAN AGRI Group (AAG) is a global palm oil company. Until 2025 it had owned 30 oil palm plantations covering an area of 100,000 hectares spreading in Riau, Jambi and North Sumatra. AAG has also partnered with smallholder schemes covering an area of 60,000 hectares and working with independent oil palm smallholders covering an area of 42,500 hectares.
The founder and owner of AAG is a conglomerate Sukanto Tanoto, the owner of the Singapore-based business group Royal Golden Eagle Pte Ltd (RGE). Despite having many companies in Indonesia, Sukanto Tanoto chose to control his business from a holding company located in Singapore.
AAG has 23 palm oil plants (PKS) with a total capacity of 1,265 tons of FFB per hour. All of them have been certified ISCC to produce 1.2 million tons of CPO and processed into downstream products. Among these plants, some 12 plants have been equipped with biogas power plants which convert methane gas into electricity.
AAG has 15 subsidiaries to support its activities. Based on Indonesian Palm Oil News (IPO NEWS)’s analysis of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) data, 5 of these subsidiaries have the highest FFB, CPO, and PK production:
The first is PT Inti Indosawit Subur. In 2024, IIS, with its 43,850-hectare plantation, produced 944,549 tons of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), 391,954 tons of Crude Palm Oil (CPO), and 211,144 tons of Palm Kernel (PK). IIS’s production is predicted to increase by 10 percent in 2025. IIS has 14 units Palm Oil Mill (PKS) with a capacity of 370 tons of FFB per hour.
The second is PT Mitra Unggul Pusaka (MUP). In 2024, MUP, which has a plantation area of 14,150 hectares, produced 301,900 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), 72,400 tons of crude palm oil (CPO), and 16,000 tons of palm oil (PK). MUP’s production is predicted to increase by 12 percent in 2025. MUP has 2 mills with a capacity of 120 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hour.
The third is PT Supra Matra Abadi (SMA). In 2024, SMA, with its 10,548-hectare plantation, produced 214,500 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), 47,100 tons of crude palm oil (CPO), and 11,700 tons of palm oil (PK). SMA’s production is predicted to increase by 10 percent in 2025. SMA has 3 palm oil mills with a capacity of 135 tons of FFB per hour.
The fourth is PT Dasa Anugerah Sejati (DAS). In 2024, DAS, with its 9,077-hectare plantation, produced 209,000 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), 48,300 tons of crude palm oil (CPO), and 10,600 tons of palm oil (PK). DAS’s production is predicted to increase by 10 percent in 2025. DAS has one palm oil mill with a capacity of 60 tons of FFB per hour.
The fifth is PT Gunung Melayu (GM). In 2024, GM, with its 10,414-hectare plantation, produced 187,200 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB), 67,900 tons of crude palm oil (CPO), and 14,700 tons of palm oil (PK). GM’s production is predicted to increase by 9 percent in 2025. GM has one palm oil mill with a capacity of 60 tons of FFB per hour.
AAG, through its subsidiary, PT Tunggal Yunus Estate, is a producer of oil palm seeds under TOPAZ brand. TOPAZ oil palm seeds are believed to have a 30% higher productivity than other oil palm seeds, capable of producing an average of 32 tons of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) per hectare per year. Furthermore, the harvest period is faster, averaging 16-18 tons per hectare in the first year, increasing to 32-34 tons between 5th – 15th years. Three seed varieties are available: Topaz I: Deli Dura x Nigerian Pisifera, Topaz 2: Deli Dura x Ghana Pisifera, Topaz 3: Deli Dura x Ekona Pisifera, Topaz 4: Deli Dura x Yangambi Pisifera, and Topaz GT (Ganoderma Tolerant).
AAG owns a 300-hectare TOPAZ nursery in Riau with a production capacity of 25 million seedlings per year.
