Realizing that many plantations are old, approximately 18 years old, so they are less productive, Minamas Gemilang (MG) is aggressively re-planting. Re-planting has been carried out since 2010 and until 2019 some 55,000 hectares had been successfully replanted. According to the President Director of MG, Mr. Shamsuddin Muhammad, that re-planting will be carried out continuously to maintain the quality of the produced palm oil. Besides intensively rejuvenating oil palm, Minamas Gemilang (MG) is also focusing on developing research on oil palm seeds which will be used for his own plantation.
Furthermore, he said, since 2018 the area of land for replanting has continued to increase. Previously replanting an area of 14,000 hectares or 6% of the production area was carried out annually, now MG has increased it to 12% of the total land area. To accelerate oil palm rejuvenation and obtain high quality seeds, MG has also produced its own oil palm seedlings and already obtained an oil palm nursery permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, including later for commercial sale.
The total investment which MP had spent on re-planting from 2017 to 2022 amounted Rp. 1,2 trillion.
Minamas Gemilang (MG) through its research center Minamas Research Center (MRC) markets oil palm seeds to the Indonesian palm oil industrial market.
