Like it or not, the facts show that the Marketing Department is one of the “life” and “lifeblood” of any company or any industry, including the heavy equipment industry. It is through the Marketing Department that the inflow of money or profits for the company is obtained.
This will happen if the Marketing Department carries out serious market research and tirelessly innovates which are different and unique. Indotruck Utama (ITU) is a heavy equipment company which takes these factors seriously.
To find out more about this, IPO NEWS journalists interviewed Vincent Santoso, Marketing Director of PT. Indotruck Utama on the sidelines of the launch of two new SDLG products: Excavator E6138F and Loader L936H.
Can you explain the developments, challenges and prospects for the heavy equipment industry market in Indonesia?
In terms of size, the industry size with the downstreaming of the heavy equipment nickel industry is also growing, “riding the wave” from the Mineral Mining (Non-Coal) sector. Last year, based on Rilievo ERG data, therewere almost 21 thousand units in 2022 and apart from concerns about coal prices which are predicted to continue to be corrected, heavy equipment sales are expected to be at more or less the same level compared to that in 2022.
Technologically, especially IoT (Technology developed to face the digital era) heavy equipment is also experiencing a digital transition. Equipment condition, productivity, fleet management to its derivatives involve IoT in parts tracking, service tracking, and billing. This changes the operational landscape of the heavy equipment industry today.
In terms of products, currently heavy equipment is also evolving towards Green Technology, where heavy equipment driven by electric motors or even Hydrogen Fuel Cells will soon replace the Internal Combustion Engine.
Currently heavy equipment manufactured abroad will soon be transitioning. This cannot be separated from the consistency of the government which is encouraging the Domestic Component Level (TKDN). Currently, this step, although not easy, is quite positively welcomed by heavy equipment business players.
Some things which are still counter-productive to this are import restrictions related to customs tariffs. Physical definitions and detailed specifications are often an issue because material definitions often result in multiple interpretations.
